Empowering Local Democracy: Senator Black's Initiative for Enhanced Support to Councillors
In November 2024, Senator Black introduced the Local Government (Support for Elected Members) Bill, aimed at providing essential support to local councillors. Recognizing the vital role that councillors play in Irish democracy, Senator Black believes they are entitled to the same administrative support in terms of staffing that is afforded to all other elected public representatives in Ireland.
